Gendered God

It’s interesting to consider imaginings of the divine that are explicitly gendered.  In pondering gendered metaphor, I reflected on my own tendency to use ungendered language surrounding God and how “distruptive” gendered metaphor is for me.  It limned the importance of using gendered conceptions of God (for me) to break us from our habitual theologizing and expand our imaginings and the ways that different imaginings have potential to resonate with others, even if they challenge my personal theology.
